CRAU MURDERGAME MEME
THE CRAU MURDERGAME (And Mafia) MEME
- You wake up somewhere new. And unlike your first go-around, you know what's happening this time.
This might be your second - third, fourth time in a murdergame. Maybe you had even hosted one, or ran it yourself. You recognize some of your fellow captives, and even the ones you don't seem to have emerged from similar situations.
Either way, you know the drill by now: you're trapped aboard an allegedly haunted school that's floating about in space, and your legion of hosts (an odd collection of characters, which may include but is not limited to: a robot bear, a male voice that only speaks via the intercom, a horrible abomination fast food mascot, a terrifying lich(?), Neil Patrick Harris and an eerily familiar celebrity who's incredibly famous out in space) then suddenly get told that there's only one way to escape, and that's by one thing alone: murder.
Been there, done that.
Each time a murder happens, there's going to be an investigation, and then a trial. Naturally, more often than not, you have to find the culprit or else. Hope that it all comes back to you.
(This meme is intended for CRAU characters and NPCs from previous murdergames (Dangan Roleplay, Foolish Mortals, Trustfell, Parasomnia, Curtains, etc), mafia/murder PSLs/other games (Nope's Peak, Newlydead Game, EpicMafia, etc) and characters from canons that center around "killing games" (Dangan Ronpa, CLUE, Willy Wonka, Hunger Games, etc).
MURDERGAME TYPE:
- 1. Investigative. This type of murdergame relies on having specific culprits per trial, each one handpicked as a culprit or victim.
2. Mafia. Specific characters are chosen to be either a group of killers or a single killer from the very beginning. Other roles may also be given to other characters, such as Doctor, Gunsmith, etc.
3. Hunger Games. No trials. No investigations. No downtime. Just an all-out bloodbath. May the odds be ever in your favor.
PROMPTS:
- 1. Welcome to Hell, Enjoy Your Stay! You've only just woken up, but immediately, you panic. Thankfully, you're not alone, and some of these people are unfamiliar to you - but all of you are terrified.
2. So How About that Murder? You've just been told by your Legion of Hosts that "hey, you've got to kill to survive" and immediately, we're back on your bullshit.
3. MOOOOOOTIVE! It's been quite some time and your mastermind is pretty much sick and tired of all of this fluffy and sweetness to the point that they've put their hands down and decided that they've got to do something about it. But what's it going to be this week?
4. So Do You Want To Be A Mole? Probably not, but it seems that whoever is overseeing your game thinks that you'd be great to be the game's spy.
5. Roles, Roles, Roles! Specific to the Mafia set up, sometimes you're given a specific role. Maybe you can pass out weapons or guns to people. Or perhaps you can speak to the dead. Maybe you can block someone from killing for the evening. Whatever it is, you're special. Just make sure not to get killed. (For ideas on roles, feel free to utilize this list here!)
6. So you're Mafia now, eh? You are one of the elite. The ones chosen to vote for who dies each week. Whether it's by choice or by chance, you've got a dirty job to do and you have to do it... or else. But hey, at least you're not alone! You've got some buddies to help you do the work with you.
7. What's that? Somehow, somewhere, you've managed to find some sort of machine that takes a special kind of coin and pops out some sort of item? Who knows.
8. Free Time Events Throughout the week, you're free to do as you please, so what are you going to do, even with the threat of murder hanging over your heads? Might as well get to know your fellow captives, right?
9. Kill or Be Killed Whether you're mafia or just a solo killer, it's time to start your murder on! There's plenty of ways to do it. So how's it gonna be done this time?
10. IT'S INVESTIGATION TIME! Ding dong bing bong, a body has been discovered! Whether or not you'll actually find any clues, however, to who did it might be a bit of a toughie.
11. Let's figure this out The trial starts and everyone's eyes are on everyone else. Whether you're given a list of suspects or not, there's a killer to catch! But will you catch the right one? Or scapegoat someone else entirely innocent?
12. I remember...! In some murder games, memories are key. Every Sunday, you remember something from your past that you've somehow forgotten. But why was it lost in the first place? And why are you remembering it now, all of a sudden? It is a mystery, truly.
13. And the mastermind is-? Is it truly someone outside of the group? Or perhaps it was one of your friends after all? It's time to finally finish this, solve all the mysteries, defeat the evil twisted things, maybe get the Golden End and go home.

Rin killed someone - because he was going to be killed. Akira was acting strange when he came back, wouldn't listen, why would he try to kill Rin, it didn't make sense, nothing made sense -
The blood trail ends, with a hallway light shining down on a bloody scene - a scene both at once familiar and unfamiliar, bringing to mind the night they both nearly bled out - but this is too much blood, too much stillness, red leeching into that messy black hair, those gray eyes still open -]
A...ki....
[He stumbles forward in shock, dropping to his knees when he reaches Akira's side, staring down uncomprehendingly at the body of the person he loves - the person who was killed by the one person who was his best friend here, because he was defending himself from Akira -
He doesn't scream. But the low, agonized moan that works it's way out of his throat might as well be one.]

He doesn't speak right away, instead letting Ichigo have his moment to mourn Akira. He deserves that, Rin figures. He deserves a chance to see Akira before the raccoons take his body and mutilate it, just like they did with the other ones.
But Rin can't run either. He just stays there, several feet away from Ichigo, waiting. Because he's gone numb inside and he honestly doesn't know what to do anymore.]

And gathers up Akira's bloody body in his arms, cradling his head to his chest with a sob.]
You - fucking idiot...
[That's aimed at Akira, not Rin - and as the tears trail down his cheeks, he keeps calling Akira a moron, an absolute fool -]
...Why?! Why would you...Why would you try to kill Rin?! Weren't we - Weren't we supposed to be partners?! Weren't we going to both give the raccoons hell?! Why the hell...Why the hell would you leave me alone like this?!
[Akira can't answer him, not anymore - and he slams a fist on the floor, blood - Akira's blood - splashing onto his fist.
He shakes as he cries, silently - before looking up at Rin, his eye tired and hurt and angry before he looks away, down at the floor.]
...Go...go Back to my room and clean up. We'll talk there.
[His voice is clipped and cold, but he realizes this isn't the place to vent his anger, out in the open where anyone else can hear them - and more than that, he wants a moment alone, before he lets Akira go and lets the raccoons do what they will with his body. One last moment holding Akira in his arms, before he's torn away forever.]
...Please.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have a clean shirt there to put on, so all he can do is clean up the wounds on his arms and try to stop the bleeding. There's no way he can hide these wounds, they're going to know it was him right away. As soon as everyone wakes up in the morning, he's done for.
Somehow that doesn't seem too terrible. He feels like he deserves it.
Eventually the water in the sink starts to run clear, and he shuts off the water and wraps up his arms as best as he can with the towels he has. His shirt is still a mess, but there's not much he can do about that until he goes back to his own room.
This whole process takes a long time, because he has to stop every few seconds and rub at his eyes to try and keep them clear. It's hard to see through the tears that leak out intermittently. But what else can he do? Every time he's reminded of what just happened and what is about to happen, his heart twists painfully. So depending on how long Ichigo takes, he might come back while Rin is still cleaning up, or possibly just after.]

It's the hardest thing he's ever done, but he does it - trying not to think of the macabre display the Raccoons will inevitably do with his corpse, and not allow them the solace of burying him.
So when he enters back into his room, Rin is done with the cleanup - and Ichigo just looks at him, eye hard and tired, before going into his closet and throwing a long-sleeved shirt at Rin.]

[Once that's done, he goes to sit on his bed, arms still bloody from holding Akira, staring off silently into the distance as if he's turned entirely into stone.]

When he speaks, his words are scratchy. Mostly because his throat is sore right now. It's been a day already.]
It'll just get ruined.
[In the execution, he means. Because there's no way he's getting out of this alive. He wouldn't want to anyway.]

[That's all it takes - the tension in the air snaps as he yells, running a hand through his hair frantically and getting blood streaked through it, face contorted into a grimace of hurt and anger.]
I know it'll get ruined but I don't fucking care! Not when Akira's dead because he tried to kill you and you're going to die and I'm going to lose more people I care about, Rin! I don't want to be alone here!
[Because, as much as he's angry - as much as he wants to blame Rin...
...Ultimately, he can't. Because Rin was just defending himself, and he knows defensive wounds when he sees them - and he's just a ball of angry and hurt at the entire situation, not just at the murderer.]

[Now it's Rin's turn to yell, because Ichigo yelling has set him off.]
Do you really think I wanted anything to do with any of this?!
[Now he's advancing on Ichigo, and if Ichigo lets him he'll start pounding on his chest. Not aiming to hurt him, but more like how someone might pound a fist on a table.]
I didn't ask to be attacked, you know! Shit like this always happens! Any time I think something's finally going right, something horrible happens and takes it all away! It always happens!
[He probably meant to say more after that, but it's going to devolve into something between a yell and a broken sob. Because he really can't ever have anything nice in life. Like, it's not even a question in his mind. He knows Ichigo is going to tell on him in the morning, and everyone will turn on him and vote for him to die. Even his friends end up betraying him in the end.
It's not fair. He just wanted friends, that's all. Nothing more. And now he's going to die for it.]

It makes his head snap up, eye wide as Rin breaks down in front of him, not even feeling the pounding on his chest.
He knows the problems Rin's had - the pain of being alone because of who he is, and how people see him. How nothing's gone right for him, and -
How, even now...after everything, he still thinks he's alone.
It's what drives away his anger in the end, and leaves nothing but sorrow and a desperate hurt at this entire situation - and what causes him to wrap his arms around Rin in a hug, blood be damned.
When he speaks again, it's low - and it's something he thought he'd never say here, but the situation calls for it, and...
...He's sure Akira wouldn't want Rin to die, either.]
...I'm going to cover for you. During the trial.

But then Ichigo had to go speak, and those words flare that temper up once again.
Abruptly he pushes off of Ichigo's chest with his hands, trying to free himself from that hug.]
No you will not! Somebody's gonna die tomorrow, and I'm not letting an innocent person die in my place!
[He's afraid of dying, but not so afraid that he would let someone die in his place. Not when he can consciously think about it and he isn't driven by that 'fight-or-flight' instinct.]

Of course Rin would protest. Of course he wouldn't want someone innocent to die in his place, because Ichigo would be the same way. But he desperately - desperately - doesn't want to lose Rin to this damned place, too.
So he shakes his head, letting Rin free the moment he pushes away.]
Rin, you can't - I wasn't thinking of letting an innocent person die at all!
[Because he's come to a conclusion, one reached after thinking about Dazai and Tsumugi's hints on recyclr. One that points at a single, solitary person-]
Listen - Listen to me. You said - You said Akira was acting weird, right? That he wasn't -
[God, this is so fucking hard to talk about but he has to talk about it.]
- that he wasn't listening when he attacked you, right? I noticed he was trembling and shaky when he came back in, but I'd thought...I don't know, that it was just nerves from the killing night, but...
[He breathes out, shutting his eye. Those symptoms...he's not a doctor or a medical student, but he sure as hell knows when someone's going on a trip or not just due to the experience of seeing some of Isshin's patients.]
...What if he'd been drugged? What if someone drugged him?

[At first Rin thinks there wouldn't have been time for that. Akira and Rin stayed together once they both got kicked out of Ichigo's room. But then he remembers that he arrived at Ichigo's room before Akira did. There was a time gap there, and anything could have happened.]
But who would have drugged him? Who COULD have? He's too smart to fall for a trick!

On top of that...Dazai and Tsumugi had desperately been trying to leave hints pointing to Will. Will had something to do with Tsumugi's death, and Akira had been drugged -
The shoe finally, finally drops.]
....Graham. Graham would've.
He's an FBI agent...or was one, anyway. I think he'd know a thing or two about drugging someone up so they'd do things they wouldn't normally do.
[I mean, assuming the FBI can be as hardcore as Japanese law enforcement...]
